I Want to Participate in The Science Fair
What Do I Do?

The Science Fair website has everything you need to know! You will find the rules, what’s required, and a simple form to sign up and register your project for the Science Fair. Below are the steps you need to follow to join the Science Fair.

Getting Started

Step 1: Pick a Topic You Are Excited About
Start by thinking about topics you are curious about, or problems you would like to solve. For the 2025 Science Fair, the theme is Innovations to Improve Our Community. The theme invites you to explore creative technological, scientific, and engineering solutions that can make life better in your community, your region, or the whole world!

Step 2: Visit the Science Fair website and Explore
This will help you learn more about the Science Fair, how it works, the rules for participating, and a simple form for registering your project.

Step 3: Discuss your ideas with your science teacher to get further thoughts and help.

Step 4: Narrow Your Ideas Down to a Testable Question and Hypothesis
After picking your topic, design an experiment to test your hypothesis. This is the most important step because everything you do will depend on what question you are trying to answer.

Step 5: Write a Project Outline
In this step, you will plan out what you will do for your project. This includes figuring out:
– what tools or materials you will need
– how you will answer your research question
– making a timeline

Step 6: Registration of Project
Use the Science Fair Registration page to register your project with a short abstract or description (max 500 words) as early as possible, starting from Jan 15, 2026.

Conducting your project & Register

Step 7: Conduct your Project
Follow your project outline to conduct your research, experiment, or build something. As you work, collect your data. Afterward, look at what the data tells you and draw conclusions from your data. This is the real fun part. Enjoy it!

Step 8: Write a Report and Register
Put all your research and findings together and write a report (PDF, max 10000 words, 100MB) that explains everything about your project. You will find guidance for writing the report in the Requirements and Rules.
Use the Science Fair Registration page to register and upload your report by April 4, 2026. After that, the judges will review it.

Judging

Step 9: Create a Display for the Science Fair
Your display should clearly show a summary of your project. Your displays must be set up between 17:00 and 20:00 on Friday before the Science Fair (24 April 2026) at Webster University. Your teacher will give you more details later.

Step 10: Show Up to the Science Fair
Be at Webster University on 25 April 2026 (Saturday) for the Science Fair! You will talk to the judges about your project. The judges will ask you questions and give you helpful feedback and suggestions. After the project interviews are finished at 12:00, lunch will be provided for all students and teachers. The Science Fair Organizers and Webster University will have displays, games, entertainment to keep you and the other students busy until the Science Fair is open to the public at 14:00.

Step 11: Get Your Award!
After the judging, there will be an Awards Reception (16:00 on 25 April) at Webster University. Everyone – students, parents, teachers, and judges – can attend.
